visit with the Cal Poly Robotics Club ...

We had a nice visit this week with members of the Cal Poly Robotics Club. This is a very active group, as can be seen by their website at http://ieee.ee.calpoly.edu/robotics/wiki/doku.php, and there almost 20 of their members and friends in attendance. We talked about the evolution of the SRV-1 robot, current functionality, some of our plans for future development, and some detail of the sensors and the firmware code structure.

We also gave the club first "dibs" on spare parts left over from our transition to the new tracked version of the SRV-1, and suspect they will be able to come up with a plan to use the original robot base for some club fundraising projects.

new SRV-1 is now in production

We just completed the first production run of the tracked version of the SRV-1 robot, and we will start shipping the new SRV-1's this week.

As previewed earlier, the new SRV-1 sports a machined aluminum chassis, high efficiency metal gear motors, urethane drive treads, a compact Li-ion battery pack with built-in charge protection, and an actual mounting bracket for the camera (this was an issue on the original version of the robot).

Please note that there is an order backlog, so email us at sales@surveyor.com to check on availability.

3d model for new SRV-1

For those interested, here's a 3d rendering of the new SRV-1. We'll be updating this model shortly to show the placement of major electronics components on the circuit board, but otherwise, the model is complete.

We expect to start shipping the new SRV-1 during the week of May 22. There's an order backlog, so email us at sales@surveyor.com to check on availability.
