Performance.

The LPC2106 ARM7 runs at 60MHz, and has only 128kb of program memory and 64kb of data memory.  Also, to interface to a camera, the ARM7 external i/o runs at approx 15MHz.

The SRV-1 Blackfin runs at 500MHz with dual ALU's (up to 1000 MIPS), and has 4MB of program memory, 32MB of data memory plus 132kB of L1 cache.  The external i/o bus of the Blackfin runs at 125MHz and supports DMA transfer.
