Wirelles problem
06/13/10 at 11:51pm

I have same trouble with my wifi connection. When i start the robot it's seems to be OK, but i can't see him on my PDA, Laptop or i see him for a few second and than it's deseaper.

I can not see the robot on the radar and see if it is for a short time ( this was in this morning).
Yesterday I tried a program on the PDA to control the robot then the connection suddenly died. Now I can not see it on your laptop wirelles connections. Could be due Lantronix Adapter? or should I reinstall firmware.

Yesterday I had the same problem but after I managed to make a connection between the robot and PDA wifi went one time, but today nothing. : (
led3 and led2 are on.

How a i can instal a new firmware with serial connection.

Please help!

Thanks

Are you using adhoc or infrastructure (access point) network connection ?

There shouldn't be any reason to reinstall firmware.  If you are using infrastructure connection, make certain you have power management disabled.  If you are using adhoc, you should change to infrastructure connection.

i use ad-hoc. and i make again in matchport the good configuration. I will post my configuration.

Problem could be from the wifi device(robot)? Or i must try to make a good configuration in matchport.

It may be an issue with Matchport's adhoc support.  Some host computers can't connect at all via adhoc to the Matchport.  It's best to change to infrastructure (access point) mode - then these problems generally go away.

I enter in matchport and set default settings. After i make the new settings but i have a question at this point:

 Your choice ? 4

Topology: 0=Infrastructure, 1=Ad-Hoc (1) ?
Network name (SSID) (SRV1) ?
Channel (2) ?
Security suite: 0=none, 1=WEP (0) ?
TX Data rate: 0=fixed, 1=auto fallback (1) ?
TX Data rate: 0=1, 1=2, 2=5.5, 3=11, 4=18, 5=24, 6=36, 7=54 Mbps (3) ?

at Channel (2) at must write 6 or it's ok if i use 2 ?

i change it because i have more wirelles conection.

Don't worry about DNS - it isn't used.  Make certain power management is disabled in the WLAN (4) menu.  Subnet mask should be 24 bit (255.255.255.0).

You can take portable wifi access point with you - this is what we do for demos.  Also, we have not been able to make adhoc connection to Matchport from iPhone or Android phone - only infrastructure mode works.

I don't know.  All I can say is that we have seen a number of problems with adhoc and prefer not to use it.

I set the robot on infrastructure mode. I set the SSID to the name router WiFi (wrt54) and IP in the same class.

But in  the WRT54 router manager can not find the  MatchPort of the robot(i can see an MAC adress and this it's must be visible without an conection). And I can not see the matchport  on  laptop or PDA.   The problem is not that i can not make an conection    -> I can't  see the robot WiFi and how I can to sure that my matchport driver is OK.

I wish I knew if I did not set well even Matchportul or is defective and must be replaced.

Those are instructions for loading Blackfin firmware via Matchport or direct serial interface.  However, your problem is not with the Blackfin - it's with the Matchport.

Your Matchport might be defective.  You should be able to ping the IP address you set the Matchport on your infrastructure network.  However, the router might not register the IP address of the Matchport because you aren't using DHCP.
