There is a delay between the moment I give the command to the motors and the moment the robot starts to move. The delay is present also when the robot is controlled from picoC or with the functions from the firmware... so it is not because of the wireless communication. Do you know what causes this and if there is any way to make the robot respond faster to the movement commands?

I am using the standard configuration of the Surveyor-SRV1 robot.

There's nothing in the software that should be causing a startup delay, perhaps beyond waiting for completion of capture / compress / tranmit of the latest frame.  However, that shouldn't be a factor with direct commands or picoC.
