Comms Betweeen SRV-1 and Radio (no MatchPort)
07/20/10 at 7:47am

Hello,

We are using a 802.11 b/g radio (embedded Linux) that we want to interface with the SRV-1.  I've read in the forums about possibly using the Lantronix XPort to bridge the Ethernet and Serial interfaces.

The XPort should allow any NIC to talk to the SRV-1 correct?  So I could use anything with an ethernet port (laptop, wrt, etc)?
I understand that the XPort's max baud rate is 921k, but that should be good enough for us.

Also can anyone recommend any resources for bridging the serial and ethernet interfaces in software on Linux to accomplish the same effect?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Nevermind,  I figured it out.  Connecting with the XPort works fine.

I'm still kind of a noob at this, so this may have been evident to some.

In case anyone else wants to know:
Have to take 3.3V power from the SRV to the XPort.  Set the XPort to RS-232 protocol (though we are only using tx, rx, gnd), TCP to port 10001, CPU performance = high to get 921600 baudrate.  You can now telnet into the SRV and use the SRV console applications through their network connection option.
Does not seem to work with UDP however.

Thanks again.
