Error 404 on "Apply Settings"
11/23/11 at 9:44am

Several years ago i aquired a blackfin for my dissertation at university.
I got myself locked out of it and had to end up use the older model from my tutor while i waited for the reset USB chip to come.
Anyway after my dissertation (Which was completed with the older moderl) I put the robot on the shelf and forgot about it until recently.
Been trying to implement it into my network but When i try to "Apply settings" i get an "Error 404"
I've tried several times, including switching the robot on and off then trying.

I'm not sure if the fact that I previously got locked out is related just thought i'd mention it.

Does anyone have any idea how i can resolve this issue?

Thank you.

I don't know anything about the full SRV robot and whether or not a light is on when charging. I do think that somehow the firmware got corrupted and this is why you are seeing the error. How this is tied to getting "locked out" (or if it is) I do not know. Also, without more information it cannot be distinguished if you got locked out of the SRV or the radio.

If it were me I would be connecting to the radio via the serial adapter to review/change the settings to make sure the radio is working and can be connected to, then I would flash new firmware to the SRV.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.
I can connect to the robot's control panel via Wifi,
I can access most of the pages, but i can't actually apply the settings.
I've been trying to reset to factory settings, it confirms it but doesnt appear to actually carry it out.

I also tried to connect to the robot over wifi (while it's classing itself as an access point not a part of the home network), but the app didn't connect to the robot successfully.

What sort of information would you require for a better idea?
Is it difficult to reflash it?

You cannot change the settings via the web interface. It must be done over the wired serial connection or telnet.

Follow the set-up instructions here (http://www.surveyor.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=tjump) and see if this helps.

Hello T. Jump,

Thanks for the help.
Just have a question:

***********************
The final steps are to configure the Matchport to your infrastructure network instead of just connecting via the adhoc network. If you aren't familiar with WiFi network configuration, ask for some help. If you use the wrong settings, the Matchport won't be reachable, and you will physically have to remove it from the robot to reprogram via the alternative setup below.
***********************

May I ask why on that page it shows this as how to get it set up?
http://www.surveyor.com/blackfin/SRV_setup_bf.html

Cheers,
Greg

As you may have discovered, following the instructions from the link posted above seems to lead to mishandled set-up and operation of the SRV. It is from countless people getting stuck following the above that I wrote a newer set of instructions listed in the link on a previous post.

Not sure where you have and have not looked, but the LED sequence is mentioned in much of the forum.

Starting sequence for a successful boot is:

All three LEDs on
Middle (yellow) LED goes out
Back (yellow) LED goes out and middle LED (yellow) comes back on

So, after full boot the front (red) and middle (yellow) LEDs remain illuminated.

Hello,

I'm sorry for being a nuisance.

With the LED Sequence it happens like this:

1 - Red on
2 - All 3 come on
3 - The outer yellow LED goes out.

So, after full boot the front (red) and middle (yellow) LEDs remain illuminated.
But it isnt in the sequence you said it should do.

Secondly. With your tutorial. The software provided from Silabs does not exist.
 https://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3.zip

I can manually log into the robot once i take off the top card and follow the instructions on that page you provided. Have tried to manually connect to my wifi. Not sure if it is affected by the strange LED sequence or my incorrect data i'm entering (don't believe I am however)

Thanks for your help.

I just wantt o at this moment reset it to factory settings.
Am I wrong in believing that the "Default" option when connected via serial is the option to do this?
It doesnt seem to do anything for me.

It sounds to me like what you described as a boot sequence for the LEDs is exactly what I described. I did not give you millisecond timings on the LED sequence but what you are describing is indicative of a successful boot.

And yes, it looks like the links to the CP2102 drivers is broken, but a quick web search brought me to the new page at Silicon Labs where the drivers can be accessed.

When you take off the top card you are not logging on to the robot; you are logging on to the radio. The top card is the robot.

Not sure what you are trying to do to connect to your wifi. What wifi (access point/router or direct to your computer)? You must have a wifi access point or router if you are trying to connect via infrastructure mode.

The default selection does not reset the critical areas that are causing you issues. Also, factory settings of the radio will not work properly with the SRV. You need to get access to the radio by telnet or using the hardwired serial connection (best option IMO). Then you need to go through the set up proceedures as described in the forum.
