 What cameras do you recommend?

All cameras which can be mounted with a 1/4" 20 bolt should be compatible. To choose the camera best suited for your application, compare specifications for light sensitivity and horizontal resolution. Surveyor does not keep a list of compatible devices and does not recommend any camera hardware.

Can I try it out first?

Yes! Try out TransitRCM by going to Surveyor’s live demo cam page.
You can view Surveyor’s HeadquartersCam with full motion video live from the rooftop of Surveyor Headquarters.

How do I get a “dome” for the TransitRCM?

Weather proof outdoor enclosures are usually clear glass or plastic domes. High quality commercial enclosures can be purchased from Videolarm at: http://www.videolarm.com

Lower industrial-quality enclosures, such as the dome used by Surveyor’s live demo cam, can be made by assembling a 12” outdoor light dome and using mounting supplies from a local lighting supply shop.

What if I need a longer serial cable?

TransitRCM includes a 20 foot serial cable. If you need a longer serial cable, you can purchase one at your local electronics or computer store. Cables used for testing 150-foot transmissions included shielded twisted pair serial connection, and high quality shielded video calbe for the camera feed.
