Dial-Up configuration and settings

The Dial-Up networking capability of Webcam32 allows the product to automatically dial a previously defined dialup configuration and connect via modem to an Internet Service Provider or other network service.  Once the connection has been established, an FTP upload of the current image will be transmitted using the parameters configured in the FTP settings dialog.  Once the FTP upload of  the new image has completed, Webcam32 will hang-up the modem connection until the next interval when the dial-up and FTP process will be repeated.  In the dial-up settings dialog, the name of a previously configured dial-up connection may be selected.  The userid and password for the network connection must also be entered.  The time intervals for auto dial-up may be selected with the Modify Timer Settings button.  For more information on timer settings, visit here.

Dialup will only occur if the Enable Dial-Up control box is checked.  If not checked, FTP upload via direct lan/connection or HTTP transfer will be in effect.  If dial-up is selected, HTTP upload will still be effective but FTP direct connection will be disabled as dial-up has precedence.  The Maintain dialup checkbox allows a dialup connection to be maintained.  For normal FTP, this means that Webcam32 will initiate a connection if not already present and will not hang-up that connection after upload.  The Retries entry allows the number of connection retries to be specified in case the dialup connection is unsuccessful on the first attempt.

If the Consecutive remain check box is selected, then dialup connections formed from the timer will be maintained if the next upload is scheduled to occur is within the next minute.  This saves on connecting, uploading, disconnecting and then reconnecting all within the same minute.

The dial-up networking services supplied with Windows 95 and NT are optionally installable features.  If dial-up networking has not been installed then you will be unable to select the dial-up networking feature described in this section.  Both the toolbar and the menu item will be disabled.
