The Preferences dialog allows you to configure your Webcam32 settings using a tree diagram to display all features. This section contains a brief description of each item found in the preferences menu.
Webcam32 supports direct HTTP requests. When a browser accesses Webcam32, Webcam32 can obtain and serve an image directly to the browser.

Automated ISP settings. The Dial-Up networking capability of Webcam32 allows the product to automatically dial a previously defined dialup configuration and connect via modem to an Internet Service Provider or other network service. For more information, click here.
Webcam32 can be configured to automatically obtain and transmit a captured image to an FTP server. For more information, click here.
Automated web hosting setup. For more information, click here. Webcamsat is a beta feature of Webcam32 designed to host streaming video. It is not provided in most versions of Webcam32, and is still under development. Usage should be limited to advanced Webcam32 users. For more information, click here.
Device settings are generated by the capture device itself. The settings and information in these dialogs cannot be accessed or saved by webcam32, and are specific to the camera/capture board.

The Image menu controls Webcam32 software image processing. This emulates many things under DEVICE, but also adds functionality.

Notification menus give Webcam32 users advanced warning of capture, FTP, and the ability to analyze capture history.

apture preferences allow configuration of image capture methods other than FTP, viewing captured images on the fly, saving movie files, and using still images in place of a capture device.

By using the Camera Cycler, if multiple cameras are connected to a PC running Webcam32, the camera acting as a source of images for Webcam32 processing can be dynamically changed automatically.
Webcam32 supports a Remote Camera Mount (RCM) from Surveyor Corporation.
An RCM is a physical piece of hardware which connects to a PC's serial port. A video capture camera can be easily attached to the RCM. Under software control, the RCM can pan and tilt the camera.
The Webcam32 support provides the ability to control the RCM from within the Webcam32 application. From the RCM Preferences menu, select RCM Control.
The Audio feature allows Webcam32 to stream audio at various bit rates through a TCP/IP connection using Webcam32's HTTP server and a Java applet. Bit rates, user count, stream interval and bandwidth usage of the audio feature can be controlled from here.
The Chat feature enables text chat transfer through Webcam32's HTTP server providing remote chat display in the form of a multiple frame HTML document. Number of users, local login name, and number of messages displayed can be controlled from here. The display is also available from this menu, so the webcam32 user can log on to the chat server locally.
Formerly titled Controls, this feature allows specialized Webcam32 settings to be changed.
Controls of the debug output from Webcam32. Debugging provides a text file with extra information about the state and activities of webcam32 during operation. The preferences allow specific categories of debugging to be activated or deactivated.
