The Video Settings dialog allows modification of parameters relating to capture from the video device. The JPEG Compression Quality controls the quality of the resulting image. The higher the quality, the larger the image data. The Progressive JPEG check box can be selected to create progressive JPEGs. These images appear quicker than regular JPEGs.
The preview settings are used to control the preview output. If the Enabled check box is selected, the preview is shown. The Preview Scale option allows the preview image to resize to fill the available space. The Preview Interval parameter specifies the preview refresh rate in milliseconds between frames. The Detatch settings specifies whether or not a detached preview window should remain displayed in Webcam32 is hidden in the system tray. For additional information on the preview settings, visit here.
The Image Compare options are used to determine if current and previous images are to be compared (Enabled) and if so, how much of an image change is considered a threshold Value. If enabled, a new image will only be FTP'd or Locally Saved if the new image has changed by the threshold value.
The Image Scale option is used to scale the resulting image to a new size for final output. This can be used for oversampling.
If Push AVI is enabled, a request for Server Push images will result in the images being obtained from the AVI file specified in the Push AVI file entry area.
The New image interval attribute specifies the time in milliseconds after which a cached image will be discarded. When Webcam32 obtains an image from the capture device, the image will be reused without obtaining another image from the capture device if the new request arrives within the interval since the last image was requested. The Use Windows decode option forces Webcam32 to use Windows to decode an image obtained from the capture device. Images are normally decoded more efficiently within Webcam32 unless checked. The Update when hidden option allows the image to be previewed even when it is not visible such as when obscured or minimized. The Save Image Size option asks Webcam32 to attempt to save the size of the video capture image before quitting. When Webcam32 is restarted, an attempt will be made to restore the image size last in effect.
